Germany: Oak log price index falling slightly

Alternativtext The German producer price indices for oak showed a rather inhomogeneous picture in January 2022. On average, the index value for log wood fell by 0.2% to 123.4 points. No data were available for A quality. In December 2021 there was a minus of 3.5% to a level of 88 points. B quality recorded a minus of 0.2% to 128.4 points. 3 m lengths increased by 0.1% to 122.9 points, while 5 m lengths fell by 0.3% to 145.2 points.

C ranges decreased by 1.3% to 130.9 points. 3 m lengths contributed to this with a minus of 5.5% to 131.2 points. 5 m lengths, on the other hand, increased by 2.8% to 134.2 points.

Alternativtext Oak pulpwood in January strongly returned to its shortly paused uptrend, gaining 8.6% to 93.5 points. Beech pulpwood recorded an increase of 3.9% to 99.8 points. The hardwood pulpwood price index increased by 4.6% to 98.9 points.

Year-on-year the index for oak logs increased by 7%. A quality was not comparable. B-quality exceeded last year's value by 9.5% with an increase of 11.3% for 3m lengths and 15.3% for 5m lengths. C ranges increased by 8.5% and industrial grade gained 19.7%.
