In January-July the exports value of the Finnish forest industry products totalled in real terms EUR 7.53 billion and increased from same period previous year by 14% (deflated using wholesale price index). The exports value of forest industry products totalled EUR 1.14 billion in July 2021, the Finnish Natural Forest Institute (Luke) reported.
The exports value of Finnish wood-products industries was EUR 2.08 billion in January-July and increased by 38% in real terms compared to the same period previous year. The exports value of sawn goods increased by 52% and volume 18%. For plywood the exports value increased by 22% and volume by 27%, Luke reports.
In the same period, the real exports value of pulp and paper industries was EUR 5.45 billion and increased by 6% compared to the same period previous year. At the same time the exports value of bleached sulphate pulp increased by 24% and volume by 8%. The exports value of magazine paper increased by 4% and volume by a fifth. For fine paper on the exports value decreased by 17% and volume decreased 11%. The exports value of paperboard increased by 6% and volume 14%.
In July 2021, 1.06 million cubic meters of wood was imported to Finland. In January-July wood imports totalled 7.58 million cubic meters and increased from same period previous year by 4%. Of imported wood 56% was pulpwood, 33% chips and 3% logs. Compared to the same period previous year the imports of pulpwood increased by a tenth and chips decreased by 3%.
